Overview
What if you do something heinous and are about to be punished, but someone steps in and decides to take your place and face the punishment on your behalf? Wouldn’t that be an awesome gesture? Well, you are favored by a loving God and that’s the grace that He has extended to you when He sends His only son to die in your place. You should’ve faced the penalty of sin:
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed. – Isaiah 53:5 NIV
What did Jesus endure as He stood in your place?
Jesus Christ endured mental and physical suffering. Can you imagine? Nails in his hands and feet, thorns on his head, spear in His side. He bore this agony simply because He wanted to redeem mankind from sin. This is the greatest demonstration of God’s love for you. He stood in your place so that you can experience freedom from sin.
Today, if you are feeling despondent, discouraged or even questioning your value, just remember that you are chosen by a loving God who has made the ultimate sacrifice for you. He suffered and died, but He rose again and today He stands ready to rescue you from the traps of the enemy. There is nothing too hard in your life for the Lord to do as He has never lost a battle.
